The staff, children and the families at our Westcroft nursery are celebrating after receiving 'Outstanding' in every category in the nursery’s recent Ofsted inspection! The nursery, which provides places for 92 children, was given the top grade across all categories and was praised for the flexible and highly ambitious curriculum that encourages children’s healthy development.

The report commented that “staff give children the confidence they need to explore, take manageable risks and be tenacious when trying new experiences.” The inspector described how "many children demonstrate development that by far exceeds expectations for their age”. All children, including those with special education needs and/or disabilities were described as thriving in the “supportive, nurturing care of the highly skilled staff team”.

The nursery’s commitment to sustainability was also recognised – “the staff educate children to be conscious about looking after their local area and wider world” through “learning opportunities that are both motivating and interesting, such as litter picking, recycling and learning about local birds and wildlife”.

The nursery’s partnerships with families were highlighted as a strength that leads to “a cohesive approach to important matters, such as managing children’s behaviour and supporting toilet training”.

The Nursery Manager, Clare Eggelton said “I am delighted with the Outstanding judgement, which is a testament of my team, who are committed to giving every child an environment where they are able to thrive and be the best they can be."
